We are making headway on this bucket list. The older kids and I taking turns reading it aloud. One of my favorite things as a mother is reading to and with the kids. It has been a treasure, albeit a trying one at times, teaching them to read. Watching their capacity to take in words grow daily and weekly until one day I noticed that they are curled up somewhere with a good chapter book in the corner somewhere. It is then that I sigh with huge relief, because I know that if they can read they can do most anything. Learning to read is as important as learning the difference between right and wrong and how to work.
